Doxa: New Belief (week 11)

What does it mean to believe? Understanding belief is crucial to understanding the Gospel of John. In today's Scripture, Jesus contrasts the incomplete belief of the crowds that was based on sight, sensation, and experience with the right belief of the Royal Official, whose belief was based on faith. This kind of belief seems foreign to us in a culture that demands empirical evidence, but this "new belief" grounded in faith is the only kind that Jesus accepts.
